Not everyone is a suitable candidate for Kambô. For the protection of participants, Kambô is not offered in the following conditions or circumstances while some may require evaluation on a case-by-case basis.
Ineligible Individuals for Kambô at Kambô Care
- Certain heart and cardiovascular conditions
- Serious psychiatric or cognitive instability
- Organ disease, transplant, or strong immunosuppressants
- Epilepsy or seizure disorders
- Chemotherapy/radiation within 6 weeks
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Under 18, or medically fragile elders

Kambô is not appropriate if you:
Have not researched Kambo and its guidelines
Are being pressured or coerced by another person
Are approaching Kambô as a trend or novelty rather than a serious process
*We reserve the right to decline working with anyone if, in our professional judgment, Kambô does not appear safe or appropriate.

Kambô is not offered to individuals with:
Current or past heart conditions, including structural or functional heart disease
History of heart surgery (e.g., bypass)
Enlarged heart (cardiomegaly) or known heart muscle abnormalities
History of blood clots, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), or ongoing anticoagulant therapy
Use of medications for circulatory conditions, including those prescribed for varicose veins
Uncontrolled high or low blood pressure
Blood pressure managed by medication
Arrhythmias, irregular heartbeat, or use of a pacemaker/implantable cardiac device

Kambô is not offered to individuals with:
Severe mental health instability such as psychosis, suicidal ideation, schizophrenia.
Lack of mental capacity / cognitive impairment to give informed consent (dementia, intellectual disability without capacity, etc.)
Psychotic-spectrum disorders such as serious bipolar (discuss with practitioner)
Depression/PTSD/anxiety (case by case, discuss with practitioner)

Kambô is not offered to individuals with:
Kidney, Liver or Addison’s disease
Organ transplants and immunosuppressant medication
Stem-cell transplants or *breast implants
History of stroke, aneurysm, or brain bleeding
Serious mental health conditions (case-by-case review)

Kambô is contraindicated for individuals with:
Epilepsy
Seizure disorders

Kambô is not offered to individuals who:
Undergoing chemotherapy or radiation
Within 6 weeks before or after these treatments

Active Epstein Barr Virus EBV presentation

Because of possible immune and inflammatory responses, we may delay or decline treatment for those:
Recently vaccinated or boosted
Experiencing active side effects
Recovering from significant adverse reactions
Have not discussed Kambo and Vaccine compatability with their doctor.
All vaccine-related timing is determined on a case-by-case basis.

Kambô is contraindicated if you:
Are actively intoxicated (alcohol or substances)
Have an active addiction to alcohol or controlled substances
Have used recreational drugs within 1 week
Have used Iboga, Bufo, or DMT within 6 weeks

Anyone pregnant or breastfeeding
Actively conceiving

Kambô is contraindicated if you:
Are currently fasting, detoxing, or at the end of a cleanse
Have been drinking distilled water within 30 days
Are chronically dehydrated
Over-hydrate or drinking large volumes of water outside safe guidelines
Hydration Note:
We follow strict hydration protocols. Drinking large amounts of water before or after a session outside of practitioner guidance is unsafe and may lead to serious complications.

Kambô is not offered to individuals who:
Living with or have a history of bulimia (case-by-case assessment)
Individuals under 18
Elders who are medically fragile or unable to participate safely

Kambô may need to be postponed if you:
Had recent or upcoming surgery (within 6–12 weeks, especially with internal stitches)
Donated blood within the past month
Were recently bitten by a scorpion
Are severely dehydrated or have electrolyte imbalance
Have an active infection or are currently on antibiotics
Have fever or flu-like symptoms

We request that all participants consult with their licensed healthcare providers about whether Kambô is appropriate for them. We reserve the right to decline sessions at any time if concerns arise.
