Hi! I’m Marisa… Founder, Kambô Care
With ten years of direct practice, formal trainings, and a strong safety record, I bring accountability, discernment, and grounded care to this work. I have facilitated ceremonies in the US and internationally and understand the physiological, psychological, and ethical responsibility required to work with Kambô properly.
My practice is structured around deep preparation, informed consent, and thoughtful integration. Kambô is powerful and is always approached with respect, caution, and commitment. Over the years, my work has become known for its steadiness and clear standards in a field that often lacks consistency and reliability.
In 2012, I began a disciplined dieta and limpia practice that became foundational to my work. It sharpened my relationship to surrender, letting go, cultivating intention and action.
That chapter led me out of the ‘concrete jungle’ of NYC to the jungle of Costa Rica, where I helped co-create a retreat center and botanical FARMacy at Puerta a la Vida — an immersive period that strengthened my understanding of the natural world and the art of well-being, despite a life imbued with challenge and trauma.
Kambo Care (2016) emerged during a pivotal chapter in my personal life, one that deepened my commitment to training and a devoted relationship with the frog. It grew alongside my private practice, The Harmony Lab (2012), and reflects over a decade professionally immersed in holistic health and personal transformation.
Earlier chapters — including two decades as a DJ while simultaneously overlapping a decade in New York City’s corporate world (I worked on the Frogger video game!) — inform my understanding of burnout, the grind, and misaligned consumption.
My connection with higher-consciousness plants and ‘medicines’ began in my teens in the early 1990s NYC. During those formative years, I learned the importance of “set and setting” and cultivated experiences and containers even then — wisdom I continue to carry into every experience today.
My approach is informed by both traditional lineage and contemporary holistic, somatic and energetic frameworks, weaving safe detox knowledge, holistic health, and nervous system work into a cohesive system.
I studied Kambô with Curandero Don J., and deepening my apprenticeship in meridian-focused applications with Master of Kambô and Iboga researcher G. Lattanzi. I have also been blessed to connect with members of the Matsés community, where so much of our medicine has been sourced with care.
In addition to Frog work, I studied the art of mycelium and cacao in Mexico and Guatemala, where I lived and learned for many years in a Kaqchikel community on Atitlán before returning to the United States a few years ago.
Experience and genuine care guide my work. Discipline, prayer, action, and personal accountability sustain it.
Kambo Care treats out of the Hudson Valley - in New York’s, magical Catskill Mountains or on Lake Atitlan, Guatemala. We intentionally keep our exact address off the internet and don’t post to social anymore.
